ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WASTE MANAGEMENT IN AGMART FARMS

The adaptability and scalability of BSF-based systems have made them a viable option for waste management in various settings, from small-scale household units to large industrial operations. BSF larvae are highly efficient in converting organic waste into biomass. They can reduce the volume of organic waste by up to 50-80% within a few days. This efficiency has led to their use in various waste management systems, including agricultural, municipal, and industrial waste. The larvae feed on a wide range of organic materials, including food waste, animal manure, and agricultural by-products, significantly reducing waste accumulation and associated disposal issues.

In Agmart, we make use of wastes from agricultural by products, kitchen wastes and animal wastes in feeding the larvae. In the month of May 2024 we only recovered 81kg from about 300kg of waste fed to larvae which is about 73% reduction.
